We are very excited to announce the launch of The Brompton World Challenge, a virtual event in partnership with Prudential RideLondon. For the first time, this new format provides the opportunity for the entire global Brompton community to take part in this unique event.
Over the weekend of the 15th and 16th of August 2020, Brompton owners from anywhere in the world will be able to take part and ride their Brompton bikes in any of the 4 different distances available on the new My Prudential RideLondon app.
As part of the Brompton World Challenge celebrations, we are bringing some inspiring figures together from across the cycling industry to take part in live streamed talks, which will be open to all, and includes the Brompton World Challenge awards ceremony. The full schedule will be announced in the lead up to the event, check back here for updates.
STEP ONE - HOW TO TAKE PART
2. Select which ride distance you would like to do between (100,46,19 or Freecycle)
3. Fill in your contact details and make sure when you are prompted to choose a cycling club, tick yes and select Brompton World Challenge (it’s right at the top!)
4. Ride London will then get in contact on the week commencing the 10th August to Download the MyPrudentialRideLondon (MYPRL) App. (available on both IOS and Android)
6. During the ride, you will need to complete 5 photo challenges: -Best Dressed, Highest Point, Beautiful Scenery, A Good deed, Fastest Fold
7. Once you complete your ride & save all your images for uploading
8. Upload your 4 images and 1 video the Brompton World Challenge website
STEP TWO - THE CHALLENGES
Once you have the Prudential Ride London App downloaded, you are ready to go. These photo challenges must be completed during your ride, make sure you keep the photographs safe, you’ll need to upload them afterwards.
The BWC isn't the BWC without some amazing prizes! We will be giving awards to the fastest fold and best dressed female and best dressed male. As this year we aren't racing, we will be randomly selecting 2 people (one female & one male) at the awards ceremony to each win an Brompton Bike - but you've got to complete all the photo challenges to be eligible to win!
Best Dressed: This is a strictly no-Lycra event, we want to see you in your finest! Shirt, bow tie, jacket the lot and if you can co-ordinate with your Brompton, even better.
Highest Point: Ride your Brompton to the highest point you can and take a picture. It’s not about the elevation, it’s all for that amazing picture.
Good deed: We all need a good pick me up, so do a good deed on your way – anything from dropping some flowers to a loved one to donating to charity. Do remember to take a picture of it.
Fastest Fold: Everyone favourite, the fastest fold. This year we are going to miss seeing that frantic dash across the race track and unfolding of bikes - but video yourself doing your fastest fold and you could be crowned this year’s fastest fold champion! Please remember to stop the clock yourself and show us your time on camera.
STEP THREE - THE TALKS
As we can’t all be together this year on the banks of the mall, or at the BWC heats across the world we have planned a series of talks to bring us together and get that amazing Brompton atmosphere. We will be kicking of the week with a Get Ready to Ride talk. We have also brought together some of the most amazing women in the cycling industry to talk about inclusivity and accessibility and to round it all off the Awards Ceremony!
13th August - 18.00 BST - Get Ready to Ride with some top tips from the experts
18th August - 18.00 BST - Women pedalling the way in cycling
19th August - 18.00 BST - Awards Ceremony, 2 people (1 Female & 1 Male) randomly live selected to win a bike each!
